Joint Statement on Covid-19

In April 2020, the UK Anti-Corruption Coalition published a joint statement on the coronavirus pandemic.

In this, we emphasise the importance of transparency, openness and accountability for developing an effective response, maintaining public confidence and laying the foundations for an inclusive economic recovery.

We make recommendations on:

  • What the UK Government can do to ensure effective and transparent procurement processes for the emergency response.

  • The need for full transparency over lobbying to avoid real or perceived conflicts of interest in decisions about the response.

  • The importance of accountability and oversight mechanisms for the functioning of Government, the direct health response, and the business support package.

  • Showing international leadership on upholding the rule of law during the pandemic and ensuring a fair recovery based on integrity, transparency and accountability.
