Letter on Anti-Corruption Strategy

On 6 October 2021, we wrote to the Minister of State for Security. We urged him to ensure that the Government:

  • Fully delivers on commitments made in the Anti-Corruption Strategy 2017-2022, the Economic Crime Plan 2019-2022, and implements recommendations to ensure compliance with the UN Convention against Corruption;

  • Develops a new Anti-Corruption Strategy to begin in 2022;

  • Introduces robust and comprehensive legislation at the earliest possible opportunity to deliver long overdue reform to Companies House, the introduction of a property register, and reform to corporate liability laws;

  • Allocates sufficient resourcing for the fight against corruption in the upcoming Spending Review, including for relevant law enforcement activities; and

  • Implements the comprehensive and ambitious procurement reforms as laid out in the Cabinet Office’s recent Green Paper on Transforming Procurement including transparency and open data by default throughout the commercial lifecycle, from planning through to procurement to spending on public contracts.
